Tim Kennedy Challenges Dan Henderson

Tim Kennedy Challenges Dan Henderson

When you win, you stay relevant, and when you win in entertaining fashion, you make even bigger waves. These were the two simple additives to Dan Henderson’s Saturday night win over Tim Boetsch when he knocked Boetsch out with an “H-Bomb” in just 28 seconds of the first round. Henderson (31-13) made it known that he is not ready to retire at the age of 44.

With Hendo’s win, a respectful Tim Kennedy congratulated Henderson today via twitter and suggested a fight between them for the troops. “CONGRATS on your win.” Kennedy tweeted to Henderson. “Lets talk to @danawhite about doing a Fight For The Troops card and putting on a show.”

Kennedy (18-5) was on a four-fight winning streak until he lost to Yoel Romero back in September at UFC 178 in what was a controversial third round TKO loss. Kennedy had Romero in danger with strikes in the second round, and during the break in between rounds two and three, Romero delayed in standing up and returning to fight. This, in the rule books, is grounds for an automatic “TKO / referee stoppage” due to a fighter not responding to the bell.

Instead, Romero would have an extra break, and end up regaining composure and winning in the third round. Kennedy is currently ranked eighth in the middleweight division. Dan Henderson has not responded to Kennedy’s challenge yet.
