Tito Ortiz calls out new Bellator champ, Liam McGeary

He will go down as one of the most easily recognized fighters in mixed martial arts history.  Already a former UFC light heavyweight champion and inductee into the UFC Hall of Fame, Tito Ortiz, has his eyes set on retirement, but not first without adding one more belt to his list of accomplishments.

Less than 48 hours after Liam McGeary became the first British fighter to earn a major mixed martial arts title, the newly crowned champion is being called out by Ortiz.

McGeary defeated Emanuel Newton at Bellator 134: British Invasion at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, Friday night.  The bout would go five rounds and land in the hands of the judges who decided the Englishman’s fate.

Ortiz who is now 2-0 since coming to Bellator defeated Stephan Bonnar in November and Alexander Shlemenko in May.

The bout has not officially been announced by Bellator however the fight is imminent as Ortiz has publicly stated he only wants to fight two more times, once earning the Bellator title, and then once defending it.

If 2015 is indeed the last year that Ortiz fights based on that plan, it is safe to assume that the fight would be slated for late Spring and if Ortiz wins, a defense would come in the Fall.
