Tom Aspinall provides health update following devastating knee injury TKO loss at UFC London

UFC heavyweight contender Tom Aspinall provided a health update following his devastating knee injury TKO loss at UFC London.

Aspinall fought Curtis Blaydes in the main event of UFC London almost two weeks ago in what was the biggest fight of his career to date. Unfortunately for Aspinall, the fight did not last long as he suffered a knee injury just 15 seconds into the fight, which forced the referee to stop the action, handing Blaydes the TKO victory. At the time, it was clear that Aspinall was in a severe amount of pain, but no one knew just the extent to which he was injured. Now, nearly two weeks later, we have a much better idea of what happened to the heavyweight that night.

Taking to his social media to provide his fans with a health update, Aspinall explained what happened to him. According to Aspinall, he suffered injuries to his MCL, ACL, and his meniscus, and he underwent surgery this week to fix them all.

“Good morning, everybody. Today is surgery day. I’m in London right now and I’m absolutely starving because I can’t eat before surgery. I have suffered a torn MCL, a torn meniscus, and some ACL damage. So I’m going to get that fixed today, but just a quick message just to say thank you for all the support. I really appreciate it. I’ve had so much love since the accident, and I’ll see everybody on the other side. Peace out,” Tom Aspinall said (h/t BloodyElbow.com). He later posted an Instagram story where he confirmed that the surgery was a success.

Hopefully, Aspinall is able to quickly recover from this injury. It’s not easy for fighters to come back from such a devastating injury, but if anyone is going to succeed in his comeback, it’s someone who is as mentally strong as Aspinall.
