TUF 20 Finale Results – A Champion is Crowned

The finale to the first ever all female season of the Ultimate Fighter, TUF 20 took place tonight, Dec. 12, 2014 from the Palms Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In the main event fighting for the first ever UFC strawweight (115-pounds) title Carla Esparza and Rose Namajunas battled it out.  After six weeks in the house, both ladies defeated each opponent put in front of them.  Most recently Esparza won a decision over Jessica Penne to move onto the finale and Namajunas submitted Randa Markos.  It was a hard fought battle for Namajunas who if she had won, would have become the youngest UFC champ in organizational history, but Esparza was able to submit the youngster with a rear-naked-choke in the third round.

This title fight was also the last title fight for the organization as a whole on the 2014 calendar year.

All other ladies who participated in the show, minus Justine Kish fought on the card.  Kish sustained a knee injury that required surgery and could not fight.  The winners would likely get another shot in the UFC but there is no word if the losers will be invited back as of yet.

It was announced at the start of the main card that Randa Markos would earn $25,000 as a performance bonus for her submission over Felice Herrig while in the TUF house.

Rose Namajunas won $50,000 for the second performance bonus and submission of the season with her win over Joanne Calderwood.

Daron Cruickshank would unfortunately suffer a cut under his eyelid that would require surgery according to UFC President Dana White.  The fight with K.J. Noons was stopped and ruled a no-contest after a second accidental eye poke.
