Tyron Woodley replaces injured Hector Lombard, meets Dong Hyun Kim, Aug. 23

With a decisive win over Dong Hyun Kim on Aug. 23, Hector Lombard might have been next in line for a UFC welterweight title bout, however injury has put those plans on hold, at least for now.

UFC President Dana White announced that Lombard has suffered an undisclosed injury and will not be competing on the Macau, China card headlined by Michael Bisping vs. Cung Le.

Instead, Kim will now face Tyron Woodley who was also in the title hunt before facing a minor setback with a loss to Rory MacDonald at UFC 174.

Kim is on a four-fight win streak and with a win over Woodley it would be hard to argue that he is not inches away from his shot.

White has already announced that the winner of Matt Brown vs. Robbie Lawler will be next to challenge champion Johny Hendricks.

How ever the chips may fall is anyone’s guess but one thing is for certain, the welterweight division is as stacked as it has ever been.
