According to Australia’s Herald Sun, Melbourne is on a fast track to setting a world record for a sporting event.

Tickets went on sale at 10 this morning for UFC 193 at Etihad Stadium on Sunday November 15.

The best seats in the house were $468 and sold out in minutes.

And that’s outside the corporate boxes selling for $18,000 or VIP seats at ringside.

With seating to be set up on the ground, the stadium’s capacity is expected to be increased by about 15,000 to 70,000.

That would smash the present world record for an Ultimate Fighting Championship event of 55,724 in Toronto four years ago.  UFC 129 was headlined by Georges St. Pierre and Jake Shields.
