UFC 194 Results: Aldo vs McGregor, Weidman vs Rockhold

HOLY SHIT………. Two title change hands.

The card of all cards was finally upon us.  With two title fights on the night, UFC 194 was promising to be the best fight card the UFC has ever assembled.

Months and months of build up…… and it only took 13 seconds.

It was a long time coming and UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo finally defended his title against interim champion Conor McGregor.  The bout was originally scheduled for July, however Aldo had to pull out due to a rib injury.  Chad Mendes stepped up on less than two weeks notice and was TKO’d at the hands of McGregor who claimed the interim belt.  Last night during the Ultimate Fighter Season 22 Finale, Mendes was stopped once again, this time by Frankie Edgar, in a bout to determine the next challenger to the UFC featherweight title.

In the co-main event, a fight that could have easily been labeled as the main, undefeated middleweight champion and slayer of the great Anderson Silva, Chris Weidman defended against the extremely confident Luke Rockhold.  Weidman did great up until he threw a wheel kick and was taken to the mat and the fight should have been stopped in the fourth round.  Weidman got beat up… bad, but referee Herb Dean let it continue.  It went to a fifth….. #ANDNEW Luke Rockhold defeated Weidman via TKO.

Jacare Souza and Yoel Romero fight in a feature bout that could determine the next challenger to the title that Weidman currently holds in the middleweight division.
