Aldo – Edgar II for interim title at UFC 200, Diaz – McGregor rematch headlines

Well, what we all expected is now official.  UFC 200 will be headlined by a rematch between UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz.  The announcement from the UFC came earlier on UFC Tonight.

The bout will be contested once again at 170 pounds.  Diaz defeated McGregor via rear-naked choke submission in the main event at UFC 196 earlier this month.

Also announced, longtime former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo will have a rematch against former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar.  The only difference in this bout is that Aldo does not have the strap this time around.  The fight will be for the interim title as McGregor now holds the official title after knocking out Aldo in just 13 seconds back in December.

Also on UFC 200, former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez will fight Travis Browne, Derek Brunson vs. Gegard Mousasi, and Joe Lauzon takes on Diego Sanchez.

UFC 200 takes place July 9 and will be the organization’s first event at the newly formed T-Mobile Arena.
