UFC 202 results:  Diaz vs McGregor 2

One of the most anticipated rematches in UFC history went down tonight from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas as Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor came face-to-face in the center of the octagon once again.

Diaz submitted McGregor in their first outing, March 5, 2016 at UFC 196, one of the organization’s biggest cards to date.

The two were then scheduled to headline UFC 200 but the fight fell off the card after UFC President Dana White pulled him for not showing up for scheduled pre-fight press conferences.

Tonight the two men met once again at welterweight, meaning McGregor’s featherweight title was not up for grabs.

The fight tonight could easily go down in UFC history as one of the most exciting fights in UFC history. It was an absolute dog fight, back and forth bloody battle between Diaz and McGregor.  McGregor bested Diaz early on in the striking department and cut the Stockton native up really good.

Diaz came back strong as McGregor started to fade, but Diaz had cuts that continued to open and he seemed distracted.  McGregor caught a second wind and was able to come back after losing a round or two.

Then in the final seconds, Diaz took McGregor down, landed a few shots, but as the bell sounded, he picked McGregor up and the two congratulated one another.  McGregor earned the split decision and they each share a victory.

Rumble vs DC 2 A Sure Thing

WOW!!!!! Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson just earned a shot against current UFC light heavyweight title holder, Daniel Cormier, once again by knocking out Glover Teixeria in just 13 seconds in the evening’s co-main event.

Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone once again put on a show at 170 pounds, TKO’s Rick Story in the second round.

Mike Perry defeated Hyun Gyu Lim via TKO, in what was Perry’s very first UFC fight.  It was an impressive win and he surely turned some heads with the outcome.

In the opening bout on the pay-per-view portion of the card, Tim Means just dominated and bloodied UFC newcomer Sabah Homasi with a barrage of punches and elbows.  Absolutely fantastic performance by Means.

‘No Love’ May Get Some Love From UFC

In the main event on Fox Sports 1, bantamweight contender Cody ‘No Love’ Garbrandt may finally get some love from the UFC and get the title shot he most certainly deserves.  Garbrandt moves to 10-0 after a 48 second TKO victory over Takeya Mizugaki.

Impressive Preliminary Bouts

Cortney Casey is quickly making a case for herself in the women’s strawweight division as she submitted Randa Markos via armbar in the first round.

Lorenz Larkin may have had the best performance of his career as he just put on a flawless clinic against top ranked Neil Magny, defeating him in the very first round in the headlining fight on the UFC Fight Pass preliminary bouts.
