Just as expected, last month’s UFC 202 headlined by the rematch between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz is now the organization’s all-time leader in pay-per-view purchases with an estimated 1.65 million buys.

According to MMAFighting, “Sources close to the situation reveal that the DirecTV numbers were the highest in the promotion’s history. UFC’s own pay-per-view orders through the Internet were believed to have also broken the record set at UFC 196.”

UFC 196, the first time McGregor and Diaz fought was the previous record holder with 1.6 million buys.

Previously UFC 100 featuring Brock Lesnar held the record with 1.06, but that was before the Conor McGregor era.

For UFC 202, “Diaz and McGregor received two of the three largest announced purses in UFC history, with Diaz getting $2 million and McGregor $3 million guaranteed, not including their percentages of the pay-per-view revenue. Each also got a $50,000 best fight bonus.”
