UFC Rankings Update: Johnson Rumbles To The Top

With another successful UFC event in the books, the rankings change once again. It was a night full of upsets as the Swedish fighters Alexander Gustafsson and Akira Corassani (who also announced his retirement from the sport just a few days ago) lost in front of their home crowds.

The biggest jumps up were in the light heavyweight division with both Anthony Johnson and Ryan Bader each moving up two spots. Johnson (19-4), now on a tear with a nine-fight winning streak with his dismantling of Gustafsson, moves up to the number one contender. Bader moved up to number five after his decision victory over Phil Davis.

Gegard Mousasi moved up one spot in the middleweight division to number seven, while Dan Henderson dropped three spots to number 12 in the light heavyweight division after losing his second consecutive fight (and now losing his fifth out of last six fights). At the age of 44, it is a question if retirement is imminent for Hendo.

Following UFC on Fox 14, Dana White confirmed that Anthony Johnson would indeed be the next to challenge the champion Jon Jones for the light heavyweight title. Despite the upset loss, Alexander Gustafsson only dropped one spot to number two contender.
