UFC Rankings Update:  McGregor falls, Tate rises

UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor dropped five spots to number eight in the pound-for-pound list in Monday’s official UFC Rankings release after falling to Nate Diaz in the main event of their welterweight contest at UFC 196.  With McGregor’s drop, Luke Rokchold moves up two spots to number three on the list and champions Fabricio Werdum, Rafael Dos Anjos and Robbie Lawler each climb one spot.

Diaz remains at number five in the lightweight ranks despite his win over the former third-ranked pound-for-pound fighter.

New women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate cracks the pound-for-pound list at number 15. It’s Tate’s first appearance on the UFC’s pound-for-pound rankings. Former champ Holly Holm lost her belt and the pound-for-pound’s number 13 spot, though she stays ahead of Ronda Rousey as the number one contender.

After her loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 196, Valentina Shevchenko drops one spot in the women’s bantamweight rankings to number eleven.  Nunes stays still at number four.

In the light heavyweight division, Ilir Latifi makes his rankings debut at number 13 and Gian Villante falls to 15th.
