UFC Relaunches New York Website

UFC® Relaunches Website Giving New York Fans a Way to Provide Momentum for Legalizing Mixed Martial Arts in NY in 2016

New York UFC Fans Who Join the Fight to Bring Professional MMA to the Empire State will Receive One Free Month of UFC FIGHT PASS®

New York – The UFC® organization today announced the relaunching of www.ufc.com/NY, a page on the official UFC website to provide New Yorkers with a way to show their support for legalizing and regulating professional mixed martial arts (MMA) in the last place in North America where professional MMA is illegal.

New Yorkers are urged to join tens of thousands of fans from Buffalo to Montauk and sign up and for a grassroots campaign to urge the New York State Assembly to finally pass the bill to legalize and regulate MMA in New York, as the State Senate has now done on a bipartisan basis for six consecutive years.

UFC also announced that New Yorkers who sign up as part of the grassroots team to legalize MMA at www.ufc.com/NY will receive a free one-month membership to the UFC digital streaming service, UFCFIGHTPASS.com.

“Thanks to New York’s incredible MMA fans, there is now more support in the State Assembly – particularly among members of the Democratic Majority – for legalizing and regulating MMA than there has ever been,” said UFC Vice President of Business Development and Government Relations Michael Britt. “We’ve got momentum on our side and we are confident that 2016 will be the year that New York joins every other state and most countries in the world in legalizing professional MMA.

“We are hopeful to soon have the opportunity to host events from Buffalo to Long Island. I urge New York MMA fans – among the best and most knowledgeable in the country – to help make it a reality,” Britt said. “By signing up at www.ufc.com/ny, you are joining tens of thousands of other New Yorkers in telling the State Assembly, ‘legalize MMA in New York NOW’. Join the grassroots effort and the campaign to convince the State Assembly that now is the time to bring our mainstream sport to main streets across New York.”

When New Yorkers sign up on the website, they can offer to be part of the campaign by participating in press conferences and events, contacting their elected officials, and contributing through social media.

“As our optimism grows that 2016 will finally be the year, we want to say ‘thank you’ to New Yorkers for the support they have shown and continue to show,” Britt said. “When New York residents officially join our team to fight for legalization of MMA in New York, they will receive a complimentary free one-month subscription to UFC FIGHT PASS.

“Majority Leader Joe Morelle has been instrumental in getting us to where we are today.  We strongly believe that with his leadership and the support of MMA fans from Niagara Falls to Montauk, 2016 will be the year that New Yorkers will see live UFC and other professional MMA events at an arena near them,” Britt said.
