Volkan Oezdemir vs. Nikita Krylov added to UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi

UFC 280 is continuing to get better as light heavyweight scrap has been added to the card.

The UFC announced on Friday that Volkan Oezdemir will face Nikita Krylov at UFC 280 on Oct. 22 in Abu Dhabi. Both Oezdemir and Krylov picked up wins at UFC London just two weeks ago and have already agreed to make the turnaround. The main event of the card sees the lightweight title up for grabs as Charles Oliveira battles Islam Makhachev.

Volkan Oezdemir (18-6) returned to the win column with a decision win over Paul Craig at UFC London in July. Prior to that, he suffered back-to-back losses to Magomed Ankalaev by decision and a KO loss to Jiri Prochazka. The losses snapped his two-fight win streak where he edged out a decision over Aleksandar Rakic and scored a TKO win over Ilir Latifi.

Oezdemir is currently ranked eighth and his other wins in the UFC are over Jimi Manuwa, Ovince Saint Preux, and Misha Cirkunov. He has also fought for the belt losing to Daniel Cormier by submission.

Nikita Krylov (28-9) scored a 67-second TKO win over Alexander Gustafsson back in July to return to the win column after being submitted by Paul Craig and losing a decision to Magomed Ankalaev. He’s currently ranked 11th in the UFC and is 3-4 in the UFC. His other wins are over Johnny Walker by decision and Ovince Saint Preux by submission. His other losses have come to Jan Blachowicz by submission and Glover Teixeira by split decision.

With the addition of Oezdemir vs. Krylov, UFC 280 is as follows:
