Warriors: A film about the Fort Bragg Combatives Tournament

Ranger Up, the popular military and MMA apparel brand, along with Tim O’Donnell made a short documentary on the U.S. Army Combatives Tournament held at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. This Army-wide tournament features fighters, representing units from across Fort Bragg and includes participants from other Department of Defense installations.

Participants compete using the Army’s graduated set of rules to ensure fighters employ appropriate battlefield techniques.

U.S. Army Green Beret and professional mixed martial artist Tim Kennedy said this today on his Facebook regarding the film, “The MMA accomplishment I am most proud of was winning the Army Combatives Tournament three times. It’s the hardest tournament on the planet. It makes the Kumite look like a a game of croquet. I loved that movie as a kid though. I digress. We made this video with our talented friend Tim O’Donnell about the Fort Bragg Combatives Tournament. Give it a watch. Or don’t…if you’re a bad person who hates puppies.

The mission of the U.S. Army Combatives School is to train Leaders and Soldiers in close quarters Combatives in order to instill the Warrior Ethos and prepare Soldiers to close with and defeat the enemy in hand to hand combat.

The Modern Army Combatives Program (MACP) started in 1995 with the 2nd Ranger Battalion and has spread at the grass roots around the Army.
