WSOF lightweight contender Patishnock wants Tyson Griffin fight.  Griffin “I’d rather go fishing”

It was earlier this year that Team Chamber MMA’s lightweight prospect, Richard Patishnock (6-2) earned a title shot against World Series of Fighting’s Justin Gaethje at WSOF 8.

Patishnock had rattled off two huge underdog wins over the likes of family members Igor and Gregor Gracie dubbing him “the new Gracie Hunter.”

Patishnock defeated Igor at WSOF 2, and followed that up with a victory over his brother Gregor  at WSOF 5.

He would go on to lose the organization’s inaugural title matchup against Gaethje but the odds were stacked up against him anyway as he was a late replacement for an injured Lewis Gonzalez who withdrew due to injury.

Patishnock feels as if he has always had the odds stacked against him and believes he was originally brought in to lose to the Gracies.

After an eight-month layoff and going back to the drawing board Patishnock has his sights set on another WSOF title contender, former UFC lightweight Tyson Griffin.

Griffin (16-8) is 0-2 in WSOF with losses to Gesias Cavalcante and Luis Firmino.  He had a five-year run in the UFC but never earned a title shot although he had always been a top ranked contender.

This past weekend at WSOF 13 at the Sands Bethlehem Event Center, Patishnock told MyMMANews.com that he does not currently have a fight announcement however he is highly interested in a potential matchup with Griffin.

“I think it is a very winable fight,” Patishnock said.

MyMMANews.com then reached out to Griffin for comment.  Griffin said “To be honest, I’ve never heard of the guy and don’t respect trying to get fights through social media so as far as a fight with him goes…I’d rather go fishing.”

For the record Patishnock did not try to get a fight with Griffin via social media, that was our doing in asking Griffin if he had any interest but it seems his answer is clear either way, or is he just sending a message to Patishnock for calling him out?
