2022 PFL lightweight champion Olivier Aubin-Mercier brutally KO’s Anthony Romero in PFL 6 main event
The Professional Fighters League returns to us tonight, June 23, 2023, for PFL 6, going down live from the Overtime Elite Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
Headlining the event was a lightweight encounter between 2022 champion Olivier Aubin-Mercier (19-5) and Challenger Series alum Anthony Romero (12-2)
Each of these Canadian talents had gone 1-0 thus far into the 2023 season, Mercier having defeated fellow UFC veteran Shane Burgos (UD) in April, and Romero having defeated Tony Caruso (UD) in February.

Official Result: Olivier Aubin-Mercier def. Anthony Romero via KO (knee) at :28 of round three
Mercier lands on Romero throughout the opening round of this contest, first connecting with a heavy left hand about two minutes in that wobbles Romero. Romero however lands a front snap kick to the chin of Mercier that stuns him momentarily, before he recovers and gets back to his attack.
Mercier also controls the center, as well as the striking in the second, setting him up for this thunderous KO in round three you see below.

Olivier Aubin-Mercier only had one knockout victory through his first 16 professional wins.
That win came in his 13th professional fight (11th win) when he TKO’d Evan Dunham when knees to the body. But, Mercier just KO’d Stevie Ray in the finals last year to win the PFL lightweight championship, and after defeating Shane Burgos earlier in the year, Mercier picks up his third career knockout victory tonight at PFL 6.
This was a stellar night of fights, seeing eight finishes (4 KO’s, 3 TKO’s) with just four decisions, which is honestly uncharacteristic for PFL events.
