4 Things to Watch For at Noche UFC

Noche UFC (UFC 306) is the UFC’s first time in The Sphere in Las Vegas.

The first live sporting event from the venue that UFC President Dana White is calling a “love letter to Mexico” is looking to be the biggest event the UFC has ever produced. It will certainly be something to behold for fans fortunate enough to be in-house for the event. But for fans tuning into the broadcast, the experience may or may not be the same once the fights start but there are some things to watch for according to a recent press release from the UFC.

Here are four things to watch for at Noche UFC:

For Mexico, For All Time

The once-in-a-lifetime event will feature the premiere of the film “For Mexico, For All Time”

The film will be told in six, 90-second chapters woven into the event presentation shown on the interior display plane of the Sphere throughout the pay-per-view portion of the event.

Each chapter focuses on a different period in Mexican history and its influence on the makeup of Mexican identity, here they are in the order they will be presented:

  • Chapter I: IN THE BEGINNING… (Directors: Joe Sill and Brian Tang, Co-produced by Impossible Objects)
  • Chapter II: EARLY CIVILIZATIONS (Director: Saad Moosajee, co-produced by Analog Studios) Chapter III: RITUALS & TRADITIONS (Director: Paul Nicholls, Co-produced by Factory Fifteen)
  • Chapter IV:  BATTLE FOR INDEPENDENCE (Director:  Diego Huacuja, Co-produced by Basa Estudios)
  • Chapter V:  FIGHTERS & HEROES (Director: Shynola, Co-Produced by Nexus Studios) Chapter VI: MEXICO TODAY AND TOMORROW (Director: Paul Trillo, Co-Produced by Factory Fifteen).

Fighter Kits:

Fighters will wear unique fighter kits specifically designed for this event.

The design was in collaboration with creative consultant Jorge Gutierrez and UFC’s official outfitting partner Venum. Designs are said to pay homage to Mexican Independence and the revered Gods of ancient Aztec mythology. The gods Huitzilopochtli, Quetzalcoatl, Tezcatlipoca, Itzcuauhtli, and Tonatiuh tell the story of power, resilience, and unity.

Each jersey contains a Noche UFC badge with the official date of the first Mexican independence celebration (September 16, 1810).

Octagon Girls:

The event will feature eight new Octagon Girls.

Six are native-born Mexican women and two are second-generation Mexicans. Custom wardrobe and makeup will be aligned with each film/theme designed by Marina Toybina.

The Broadcast

The ESPN+ Pay-Per-View will also be the first 1080p TV broadcast of a UFC event in ESPN history.

So if you were not fortunate enough to be at The Sphere but have a decent home theater you might notice the increased resolution. Prelims begin at 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. on ESPNEWS/ESPN+, PPV starts at 10:00 p.m. ET / 7:00 p.m. PT.

As far as how immersive the experience is with the haptic seats and the interior display of the event, you’ll just have to find a way to be there.
