Military personnel returning from combat often face even greater challenges adjusting once they are home. The We Defy Foundation aims to help veterans with combat injuries through the use of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and fitness training.

Rock Steady Boxing
Rock Steady Boxing focus on helping people with Parkinson’s through non-contact boxing classes. A challenging symptom of Parkinson’s is its effects of mobility, movement and balance. Exercise can help offset some of these symptoms. The workouts and camaraderie provide a bright spot in an otherwise dismal diagnosis.

Retired Fighter Charitable Fund
Retired Fighter Charitable Fund is a nonprofit under The Association of Boxing Commissions (ABC). ABC’s “mission is to help create rules, regulations, and suggestions to state legislatures to help protect the health and welfare of our combat sports athletes.”
One way they do that is through the Retired Fighter Charitable Fund. This fund helps “retired fighters who may have fallen on hard times due to mental or physical health issues related to injuries sustained while competing in combat sports.”

City Champs Foundation
City Champs provides martial arts classes as well as scholarships to local gyms for Milwaukee youth. Their goal is to improve character and confidence in children through athletic discipline.

My Bruises Are From.. is a charity that focuses on ending domestic violence. Their goal is to help end the stigma around asking for help as well as provides funds to shelters. A major way they’re able to fundraise is through BJJ tournaments, raffles and gear purchases.
