Triton Fights 3: Codie Payne Fights Michael Sanders for Vacant Lightweight Title
Friday night, at Triton Fights 3, Codie Payne looks to capture his fifth victory in his amateur career, in addition to the Triton Fights lightweight belt. Payne will step into the cage to face Michael Sanders. Sanders is traveling from the Keystone state to fight Payne of Long Island. This bout is set as the co-main event for Triton Fights 3. Doors open at 6 pm and fights are starting sharply at 7:30 pm.
Payne (4-3) is looking to improve his winning streak to two wins. Payne is coming off a unanimous decision victory against Omowale Adewale on a different New York promotion. Payne’s last loss came to by the way of submission to Clint Patterson, who is also battling for a Triton Fights vacant welterweight title.
The Bellmore Kickboxer (Payne) is known for his high-level striking. Payne puts together lethal combinations and delivers heavy kicks. A single kick to an opponent’s bulb and it could be lights out.
Sanders (4-2), trains out of 914 Training Center in Scarsdale, NY. He has fought on AFL 35, where he won in the first round via TKO (punch). Sanders second bout took place on Frankie Perez’s Dead Serious 2 card, where Sanders fell to split decision. Since his first two fights, Sanders has gone 3-1 bringing his record to 4-2 overall.
Fans should not expect this fight to take place on the canvas. These two gentlemen love to stand and strike. Expect this fight to be full of kicks. And, don’t be shocked if one of these amateur fighters get caught by a head kick or hook and ends their night early. Sanders and Payne, both have the power in their hands to drop anyone they’re inside the cage with.
Payne, now fighting out of Bellmore Kickboxing/MMA, has elevated his fight game since making a transition to the new gym. The New York native training partners at Bellmore Kickboxing are among the top in New York state. UFC light heavyweight Gian Villante, Nick Fiore, Tom English, UFC lightweight Gregor Gillespie, Triton Fights welterweight, Austin Wolfson, and main event fighter, Vincent DeRiso.
These two fighters also have the potential for Fight of the Night honors, in addition to, Knock Out of the Night. Expect this fight to have all eyes on them, and don’t blink because you could miss a possible finish of the night. I’m not saying who will land it but I expect this fight to end via head kick. Tune in so you don’t miss it.
