Aaron Pico vs. Solo Hatley Jr. bolsters July 24th Bellator return

Aaron Pico vs. Solo Hatley Jr. is expected to go down in less than two weeks. The featherweight fight is positioned on Bellator’s July 24th return card. ESPN initially reported on this bout. An anonymous source close to the situation confirmed the fight with MMA Junkie. Both pugilists competed in the Bellator cage this calendar year. Each man is looking to ramp up their 2020 efforts.

Pico stopped Daniel Carey with a second-round left hook at Bellator 238 in January. This was a much-needed win for Aaron Pico. He returned to the win column after back to back defeats to Henry Corrales and Adam Borics, respectively. Pico looks to add to the highlight reel in nine days’ time.

Hatley Jr made his promotional debut in February. He defeated highly touted Bellator prospect Gaston Bolaños via split decision at Bellator 239. Solo Hatley Jr fought for promotions like LFA/ CFFC/ Pyramid Fights and is riding back to back wins. He has an opportunity to defeat another Bellator blue-chipper to go 2-0 under their banner.

Bellator’s featherweight Grand Prix is still unfolding (albeit without knowledge on when it will resume). This is a great way to remain relevant in the division. In other words, the tournament winner is going to need a crop of contenders vying for the gold belt. Pico vs Hatley Jr is a 145 lb fight where the winner could vault themselves into a key contender ship position. As the story of the Grand Prix unfurls.

The promotion is running this show at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Outside of that, Bellator MMA is largely quiet about their event slated to go next week. The promotion’s last event was in February but the COVID-19 global pandemic forced them into a period of dormancy. As a result, Bellator MMA is looking to return with a bang and is filling out this event with bouts that have obvious divisional importance.
