Abdul Razak Alhassan set to return in July against Jamie Pickett

Abdul Razak Alhassan is set to return to the Octagon in July.

According to MMAJunkie, Alhassan is set to return on July 9 against Jamie Pickett. The middleweight fight has been agreed to with contracts expected to go out in the coming days to finalize the scrap.

Abdul Razak Alhassan (11-5) has struggled since returning to the UFC in 2020 as he’s 1-4 in his last five. He last fought back in February and suffered a split decision loss to Joaquin Buckley. Prior to that, the 36-year-old scored a vicious first-round head kick KO over Alessio Di Chirico, which snapped his three-fight skid as he lost a decision to Jacob Malkoun, lost by KO to Khaos Williams, and dropped a decision to Mounir Lazzez.

Before having to take two years off due to rape allegations that were proven false, he was on a three-fight win streak with KO wins over Niko Price and Sabah Homasi, twice. Alhassan also holds notable wins over Charlie Ward by KO in his UFC debut.

Jamie Pickett (13-7) had his two-fight win streak snapped last time out as he suffered a first-round submission loss to Kyle Daukaus back in February, on the same card Alhassan lost to Buckley. During his win streak, he beat Joseph Holmes by decision and Laureno Staropoli by decision.

Pickett fought three times on the Contender Series and after finally winning on the third try he earned his way into the UFC. He started out his UFC career with back-to-back losses to Tafon Nchukwi by decision and Jordan Wright by TKO back at UFC 262.

With the addition of Abdul Razak Alhassan vs. Jamie Pickett, the July 9 card is as follows:

  • Abdul Razak Alhassan vs. Jamie Pickett
  • Cortney Casey vs. Antonina Shevchenko
