First Ever African Fighters Awards Date Set

In recent years, there has been a significantly increased interest in MMA on the African continent, as well as talent emerging from here. On social media platforms, there has been a page that has been gaining traction by doing this [@FightersAfrican on Twitter/@theafricanfighters on Instagram] The pages’ aim is to focus on African fighters and provide news, updates, and interviews concerning all things African MMA. Now, they are hosting their first ever African Fighters Awards.

The awards feature categories such as Fighter of the Year, KO of the Year, African Promotion of the Year, amongst others. Familiar names such as Francis Ngannou and David Onama make appearances but there’s also some under-the-radar African talent in the nominations too. The awards will be the first of their kind on the African continent and could serve as a way for many fight fans to come to know of emerging talent.

The African Fighters Awards are set to start at 11pm GMT/6pm EST on Sunday, February 26th and will be available to watch here.
