Aleksandar Rakic reacts to injury TKO loss at UFC Vegas 54, calls for future rematch with Jan Blachowicz
UFC light heavyweight Aleksandar Rakic reacted to his injury TKO loss at UFC Vegas 54, and he called for a future rematch with Jan Blachowicz.
Rakic and Blachowicz headlined UFC Vegas 54 on Saturday in what was deemed as a No. 1 contender fight at 205lbs. The first round was competitive, but Blachowicz, the underdog, landed some big shots on the feet and took the first round on all three judges’ scorecards. The second round went Rakic’s way as he was able to wrestle Blachowicz to the ground and land some good shots on the floor. The third round was competitive to begin, but after Rakic fell backward to the mat, the fight was called off due to an injury TKO. Unfortunately for Rakic, he suffered a knee injury in the fight and he wasn’t able to continue.
It was an awful way to end the fight, but Rakic remains committed to healing up and returning to the Octagon once his injury mends. Taking to his social media following the fight, Rakic reacted to the defeat and he called for a rematch with Blachowicz, saying that the two had an “unfinished fight” in the Octagon.
Aleksandar Rakic (via Instagram): “A great battle took place in the octogan tonight but unfortunately it ended not the way Jan and I or the fans wanted. The same damn injury from 3 weeks ago in camp showed up again tonight. I felt I won both rounds, round one being close but round two was just mine then I opened up really good even in the third before my knee buckled. Knowing the fact that my cardio was off the chart ( with a heart beat at 36 in sleep ) I would start to picking him apart from third round on but it is what it is. Congratulation to Jan and I wish him the best. I will take care of this injury and come back like you never seen me before. This is a unfinished fight between Jan and I and I really hope @ufc gives me a REMATCH.”
