Alex Morgan talks upcoming DWCS fight and starting his own gym
Alex Morgan has only fought twice in the last four years, but don’t let the number fool you as he’s been a lot more active than what it appears on paper.
Morgan, who is a long time member of Tristar Gym in Canada, opened his own Tristar branch and took sometime off to get his gym up and running.
Now the gym holds several classes and Morgan is the main man in control of the gym and is constantly there working out and helping his teammates grow and evolve as fighters.
After getting the gym into the full swing of things, the coronavirus pandemic swept through the world and Morgan was unable to return to action as a fighter until the world began to open back up.
Eventually in 2021 after two years without a fight, Morgan would return to the cage and use his two years of training and coaching to his advantage as he won back-to-back fights.
Following those two wins, Morgan and his manager felt he was ready for the big leagues and his manger told him eight months ago to be ready for a big time short notice fight and after staying ready for months, that opportunity has finally presented itself.
On Aug. 30, Morgan will fight on Dana White’s Contender Series against Blake Bilder with the chance of earning a UFC contract with a win.
If Morgan is to earn a UFC contract he’ll be following in the footsteps of a number of his Tristar teammates including his most famous teammate Georges St-Pierre.
Ahead of his upcoming fight, Morgan spoke with MyMMANews about his matchup with Bilder, starting his own gym and still working out with Tristar’s main gym along side of St-Pierre.
