Alex Perez injured, out of UFC Fight Night 159 bout with Sergio Pettis
Rising UFC flyweight fighter, Alex Perez, has been riding high following a 5-1 record since joining the UFC. The 13th ranked Perez (22-5) was looking to continue his recent surge in the division with a victory over 5th ranked Sergio Pettis (17-5) in Mexico City. Earlier, Perez announced via social media that due to an injury, he has been forced to withdraw from the flyweight bout. Perez is, “heartbroken to announce [he has] to pull out of [his] fight in September.”
In his post, Perez thanks everyone for the support and promises to be back “better than ever.”
Perez recently defeated Mark De La Rosa back in March via decision.
With Alex Perez out of the bout, there has been no news about a possible substitute to fight Pettis in Mexico City Arena. This is the second fight pulled from the card. Rodrigo Vargas v. Alex da Silva Coelho was scrapped earlier. The fight card features a featherweight main event where Yair Rodriguez faces off against Jeremy Stephens.
