Alexa Grasso showcases all-around game in decision victory over Maycee Barber at UFC 258
Alexa Grasso showed she is more than a striker in a unanimous decision win against Maycee Barbers at UFC 258 inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, Feb. 13.
Grasso made it two-straight wins in the UFC flyweight division by dominating the first two rounds.The Mexican fighter out pointed Barber in the opening round, showcasing her experience on the feet.
Grasso showcased her improved grappling in the second round, even attempting multiple submission attempts. Barber came out swinging to steal the third round, but it was not enough as Grasso earned a 29-28 nod from all three judges.

Serving as the co-main event is a women’s flyweight bout between Maycee Barber and Alexa Grasso.
Barber returns from a serious injury, which kept her from competition for over a year. Previously unbetaen, Barber suffered her first professional loss in her last outing, suffering a unanimous decision defeat to Roxanne Modafferri at UFC 246 in January 2020.
Barber signed with the UFC after competing oN Dana White’s Contender Series in 2018. She racked up three-straight wins against Hannah Cifers, JJ Aldrich and Gillan Robertson.
Grasso is searching for her second win in the UFC’s women’s flyweight division. She is coming off her 125-debut, where she defeated Ji Yeon Kim via unanimous decision at UFC 175 back in August.
at 4-3 in the UFC, Grasso is trying to cement her place in the 125-pound division.

ROUND 1
Both meet center. Grasso more calm and Barber bouncing back and forth. The two clinch early and Grasso pins Barber against the cage. Barber able to get free and the two square up. Grasso circles. Barber lands a straight, followed by a left hook. Grasso clinches with Barber. Barber able to turn and put Grasso against the fence. Grasso reverses the position. Barber lands a pair of knees while in the clinch. This fight is a n early position battle. Barber frees up, but eats a left hand fro Grasso. Both girls throw. Barber eats some punches, but so does Grasso. Grasso goes to the clinch again. Round ends with Grasso landing knees to the thigh of Barber against the cage.

ROUND 2
Grasso lands a low kick early. Barber has some swelling under her left eye. Barber misses with a head kick. Grasso with a left, followed by an overhand right. Barber misses a low kick. Barber still bouncing around. Grasso rocks Barber with a punch. Barber clinches and Grasso quickly gains control and presses Barber against the cage. Grasso takes a knee to the body from Barber. Barber turns and gets free. Grasso eats a left hand and then a right from Barber. Barber lands a kick to the body and then scores a takedown. Grasso kicks from her back and attacks the arm. Barber scrambles, but Grasso transitions to side control. Grasso traps the left arm of Barber. Barber defends, but Grasso transitions to the other side for an arm-triangle choke attempt. Grasso takes the back of Barber, ends the round there.

Barber misses with an early head kick. She then misses with a left hand. Grasso starting slow in the opening 30 seconds of the third round. Barber being more active, but not landing. Grasso counters and lands a right cross. Barber lands a knee as Grasso comes in for the clinch. Grasso has both under hooks, controlling Grasso against the cage. Barber gets one under hook and tries to get free, but Grasso keeps her opponent against the cage. Barber trips Grasso and gets the fight to the floor. Grasso kicks up and shortly escapes to her feet. Barber starts throwing her hands. Grasso is eating punches and then returns fire. Barber coming forward and not giving Grasso a break. Grasso clinches and slows down the fight. Barber reverses position and pins Barber against the fence. Grasso turns and controls Barber on the cage. Barber gets free and lays on the striking. Grasso throws a right hand and Barber earns a takedown. Grasso gets to her feet in the clinch as the bell sounds.
