MMA fighter, Olympic medalist, Alexis Vila arrested on second-degree murder charge
Alexis Vila (15-7) was arrested on a second-degree murder charge on April 17 according to Miami-Dade Police records.
According to MMA Fighting, a warrant for Vila’s arrest was issued on March 29. The professional mixed martial artist was taken into custody last week in Miami on a second-degree murder charge involving a conspiracy and weapon.
Vila, 47, a native of Cuba, came to the United States in 1997. He won a bronze medal in the 1996 Summer Olympics in wrestling for Cuba. He is a two-time wrestling world champion.
He competed for several regional promotions and also for Bellator MMA, World Series of Fighting, and most recently Titan FC in 2016.
Vila is currently locked up in Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami and has a pending hold for immigration.
