Amanda Nunes ill and hospitalized, UFC 213 headliner cancelled
The main event for tonight’s UFC 213 pay-per-view has been cancelled. UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes went to a Las Vegas hospital this morning, one day after weighing in for her scheduled title defense against Valentina Shevchenko tonight from the T-Mobile Arena.
According to sources, Nunes has felt ill all weak. The champion looked physically drained yesterday at weigh-ins but did make weight for the fight.
As a result of the fight being removed, the Yoel Romero vs. Robert Whittaker interim middleweight title fight will serve as the new UFC 213 main event.
Nunes beat Shevchenko via unanimous decision in March 2016 at UFC 196. This would have been their second pairing.
