Andre Fili replaces Lerone Murphy, faces Dan Ige at UFC Fight Night 236
No. 14 ranked UFC featherweight contender Lerone Murphy (13-0-1) has been forced from his upcoming fight with no. 13 ranked Dan Ige (17-7) at UFC Fight Night 236.
UFC FN 236 is to go down on February 10, 2024, live from the UFC Apex in Enterprise, Nevada.
Following a draw against Zubaira Tukhugov in his promotional debut, Murphy had since won his last five-straight fights and was aiming to climb higher into the rankings at 32 years of age.
Unfortunately for him and his fans, we’ll have to wait a while longer to see that to happen.
But we’ve been given a fun replacement, as Andre Fili (23-10) is now slated to face Ige at this event.
Andre Fili once had a similar hype around his name that Conor McGregor did. His striking is so fluent and fun to watch, but his career has been up and down with wins ever since his UFC debut in 2013.
Fili does come into this bout having gone 2-1 over his latest three appearances however, having defeated Bill Algeo (SD) in September of 2022, losing to Nathaniel Wood (UD) in July of last year, and defeating Lucas Almeida (TKO) in December of last year, giving us his fourth impressive knockout victory of his promotional tenure.
Dan Ige on the other hand, following defeat to Julio Arce (UD) in his UFC debut, would go on to win his next six-straight. A 1-4 streak over his next five would soon follow, before resurging with two wins over Damon Jackson (KO) and Nate Landwehr (UD). He’d then lose his most recent appearance in a closely contested bout with no. 10 ranked Bryce Mitchell (UD) this past September.
Does Dan Ige get back to his winning ways with a victory next month, or does Andre Fili make it two-straight at UFC FN 236?
