Anthony Joshua Returns Against Kubrat Pulev on December 12th
Anthony Joshua and Kubrat Pulev finally have a date to fight. Joshua and Pulev will fight on December 12th at the O2 Arena in London. The heavyweight clash will have the WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO World Heavyweight Titles on the line. The fight will air on DAZN and SkySports in the UK.
Anthony Joshua, who is 23-1 with 21 knockouts, comes off of his revenge on Andy Ruiz after being upset by Ruiz in June 2019. Ruiz knocked out Joshua in the seventh and claimed the WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO World Heavyweight titles. Joshua returned with a boxing lesson for Ruiz and schooled him for 12 rounds, winning his titles back in the process.
Pulev sits at 28-1 overall with 14 knockouts. His lone loss comes from Wladimir Klitschko in his first attempt at clinching a World Championship in 2014. Pulev has won eight straight since then beating Dereck Chisora, Samuel Peter, Kevin Johnson, and Hughie Fury.
Pulev and Joshua had been linked for a while, with Pulev being the mandatory for Anthony Joshua. The UK superstar confirmed the bout for June 20th before the pandemic took hold and stopped the sporting world. Now, Matchroom Boxing has the event together and the two heavyweights will go at it.
Anthony Joshua from Kubrat Pulev to Tyson Fury
Anthony Joshua, should he win, could be set to fight the undefeated Tyson Fury who is the lineal heavyweight champion and holds the WBC World Heavyweight title after defeating Deontay Wilder in February this year. Fury has said that Wilder missed his deadline for a rematch and will be taking a tune up fight before taking on Joshua next year, possibly in the UK.
