Arman Tsarukyan takes split decision victory over Charles Oliveira at UFC 300
Former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira, currently ranked as the number one contender, meets number four-ranked Arman Tsarukyan on the main card at UFC 300.
Oliveira put Tsarukyan in trouble early on with a guillotine submission attempt. The choke was set in but Tsarukyan managed to hold hold and even fight out of being mounted with his back to the canvas. Now with Oliveira on his back he throws a kick to push Tsarukyan off, but the kick grazes both the shoulder and head while both men are grounded. The fight is temporarily stopped so the cageside physician can take a look at Tsarukyan.
In the second round, Tsarukyan turned things up, opening the former champion and top-ranked lightweight up. The Armenian fighter extended on a super impressive axe kick and took over, pushing the pace against Oliveira.

The third and final round was also in favor of the rising contender, but Oliveira did make things interesting as he had a flash of revival with a near D’Arce choke to close out the fight. Unfortunately for the Brazilian, it was not enough, and Tsarukyan takes a split decision victory home from Las Vegas.
