Arrest made in murder of martial arts student, competitor Bader Farwana
Investigators in Kalamazoo, Michigan have arrested a suspect in the murder of local amateur mixed martial arts competitor Bader Farwana.
Bader Farwana, 25, was shot in a vehicle on March 23 on Jackson Street near Portage Street. Officers with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety originally responded to the scene around 11:30 p.m. for a crash. But when they arrived, found Farwana with an apparent gunshot wound. He later died at the scene.
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety announced that 19-year-old Khymarus Jotiege Pratt, of Kalamazoo, was arrested without incident Friday, just hours after a warrant was signed.
Pratt was arraigned Monday, charged with open murder and felony firearm. He was also denied bond.
A GoFundMe Fundraiser has been set up to assist Farwana’s family.
It’s not clear what led up to the shooting, but police are investigating Farwana’s death as a homicide.
