Battle of the Bulge – Big Country vs. Hunt to headline UFC Japan
It is being dubbed as the Battle of the Bulge but by no means is it a comparison to the true Battle of the Bulge, which is arguably one of the most important battles in American history. The name is simply a play on words as two big men, and top heavyweights, Roy ‘Big Country’ Nelson and Mark Hunt will headline the UFC’s return to Japan in September.
The fight is scheduled for Sept. 20 at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
This will be Hunt’s 14th fight in Japan as he was a regular in Pride FC, also making appearances in K-1 and Dream.
Big Country will be making his first appearance in the Land of the Rising Sun and is coming off a stunning KO victory of MMA legend Antonio Rodrigo Minotauro Nogueira last month.
Hunt last fought in a Fight of the Year candidate against Antonio ‘BigFoot’ Silva in December. The bout was ruled a draw, but it was later overturned and ruled a no contest after Silva tested positive for a banned substance.
This fight too has Fight of the Year written all over it.
