Ben Rothwell buys antique mall, plans to build MMA gym

Former UFC heavyweight competitor turned Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship star Ben Rothwell has purchased an antique mall with plans to create a new mixed martial arts (MMA) gym.

According to a post from the Wisconsin Trending Facebook page, Rothwell has acquired the Rustic Dairyland Antique Mall in Kenosha.

The post reads:

“Former UFC heavyweight and Kenosha native ‘Big’ Ben Rothwell has purchased Rustic Dairyland Antique Mall in Kenosha, Wisconsin and plans to turn it into the new location of his MMA gym.

“Rothwell, currently signed with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship and has a professional Mixed Martial Arts record of 39-14-0, is the owner and head coach of Rothwell MMA, which has about 260 members. The antique mall, located at 12009 53rd Place, is about 7,500 square feet which will give the gym enough space for two large mats and room for proper locker rooms, showers and bathrooms. Sitting by Interstate 94, Rothwell said the new location will have better access and parking than their current Kenosha gym, located at 7600 75th St., which has proven too small for their growing community.

“Keeping the gym in Kenosha County was important to Rothwell because that’s where he was born and raised. Rothwell said they plan to start work in July and are hoping for an October opening. The antiques mall’s last day will be June 16.”
