UFC 172 ‘Foot Tap’ earns Benavidez a new Harley
At the UFC 172 post-fight press conference UFC President Dana White announced that the ‘Performance of the Night’ recipients would each be entered into a contest to be voted on by the fans. The winner would receive a brand-new Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Voting for contenders, Takanori Gomi, Isaac Valli-Flagg, Chri Beal, and Joseph Benavidez ends today, and it appears as if Benavidez will be the clear winner as he is roughly 30,000 votes ahead of Beal who is in second place.
Beal knocked out Patrick Williams with a flying knee in the second round of their contest, but Benavidez may have earned himself in the record books as the first fighter to completely trap the hands of his opponent, forcing them to tap out via their foot.
Benavidez submitted Tim Elliott via guillotine choke at 4:08 in the first round.
