Benson Henderson to fight Jason Jackson in co-main event of Bellator 253
Benson Henderson will be moving back up to welterweight for his next fight.
Bellator officials confirmed to MMA Fighting that Henderson will fighting rising contender Jason Jackson at Bellator 253. Their fight will serve as the co-main event.
Henderson (28-9) is coming off his first stoppage loss in seven years when Michael Chandler knocked out Henderson in the first-round of their Bellator 243 main event in August. Prior to that loss, Henderson was riding a four-fight winning streak with victories over Roger Huerta, Saad Awad, Adam Piccolotti and Myles Jury.
Jackson (11-4) has been doing well in the Bellator cage as he’s posted a 4-1 record in the promotion. His lone loss was by a close split decision to Ed Ruth. Since that loss he’s won his last two fights which includes a unanimous decision victory over Jordan Mein at Bellator 242.
Bellator 253 will be headline by a featherweight grand prix matchup between former 135-pound champ Darrion Caldwell and AJ McKee. The event will take place on Nov. 19 at Mohegan Sun Area in Uncasville, Conn and the event will air on CBS Sports Network.
