BKB Signs Brazillian UFC Veterans Fabio Maldonado And Rony Jason
While thousands of UK businesses are stuck in limbo over COVID-19, BKBtm is working around the clock to give the fans exactly what they want; world-class signings. Perhaps the most exciting double coup of the lockdown period involves two red-hot Brazilians, Fabio Maldonado and Rony Jason.
Fabio Maldonado will most likely be remembered for his time in the UFC where he traded blows with the likes of Stipe Miocic, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson and Glover Teixeira to name a few. While Jason’s career is marked by his Ultimate Fighter: Brazil title and all action fight-style.
Both fighters have committed to three-year contracts and look set for debuts during the September to November period. Although nothing has been confirmed as of yet, BKBtm President, Jim Freeman, shed some light on Fabio’s situation a few weeks back, in an interview with myself. The suggestion was made that the winner of the BKBtm 23 one-night Heavyweight prizefighter could well be looking at a fight against Fabio for the vacant world title. A fight I’m sure Daniel Podmore, Geraint Hill, Rob Cunningham and Andrew Ross would not turn down.
As for Jason, his future looks to be in the Flyweight division (11 stone) with plenty of exciting matchups around that weight. Bare-knuckle bad-guy Connor Tierney could be an option having recently called out Jason on Instagram but is more likely to meet his man a weight or two above due to his size. Regardless of their first steps in bare-knuckle boxing, BKBtm certainly knows the importance of the Brazilian market.
BKBtm CEO Joe Smith-Brown had his to say on the matter: “We are over the moon to be adding such talent to the BKBtm ranks! This shows exactly what we are building here at the company. To me, it’s important to bring in the best talent from all over the world and I cannot wait to welcome these two fine additions to the London O2.”
“We have a big following in Brazil and South America and as a brand, we are delighted to bring the fans two top-level fighters of their own.”
