Bobby Lee previews his promotional debut fight with Joey Davis at Bellator 253

Former interim CFFC Welterweight Champion Bobby Lee chats with Brady Briggs of MyMMANews about his upcoming fight this Thursday at Bellator 253. This fight will take place at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

He faces none other than Bellator home grown talent Joey Davis, who’s 7-0 thus far into his career with five knockouts. Davis is an incredibly dangerous, flashy striker that boasts flying knee and spinning back kick knockouts, and he also won the NCAA Division II National Championships all four years he attended college.

Lee is no stranger to striking himself, he too has a flying knee KO victory, and he has some vicious hands. Not to mention his kicks, he’s great at switch kicking and round kicking his opponents all over; their body, head, legs, he doesn’t discriminate.

Lee has spent most of his career fighting for RFA and LFA. He made his CFFC debut in his last fight and had a dominant performance against The Ultimate Fighter 16 veteran Michael Hill. He looks to replicate that success inside the Bellator squared circle, starting with this Thursday, and following in the fights to come.

He’s coming off his championship winning bout over Hill at CFFC 85 back in September, and he looks to keep his streak going coming into this fight with Davis.

Lee mentioned he’s been searching for a knockout with his hands, a clean KO with his boxing, something he hasn’t done before. That’s something we’ll have to watch for. Lee is incredibly heavy handed, and he’s good at mixing it up.

If he can at least get the wrestling prodigy Davis to worry about the takedown, that’ll help open up his hands. Lee is a pretty sizable underdog, with 96% of fans picking against him on Tapology, but don’t underestimate this bright young prospect, he’s a very skilled talent.

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
