Body Of Marine and MMA Fighter Returned To Kentucky
The body of a Powell County Marine killed when a gun was mishandled in Florida is back in Kentucky.
Ricky Borders died last weekend. He was a celebrated Mixed Martial Arts Fighter and father of three. He was 34 years old.
Borders and his family were visiting friends on Saturday when the gun went off.
An Honor Guard escorted his body which was flown from Florida and landed at the Blue Grass Airport Thursday night.
According to his mixedmartialarts.com fight record, Borders last competed in MMA professionally in 2013. He held a 2-4 professional record, and a 4-3 amateur record.
He started his amateur career in 2004, made a run in Trotter’s Gladiator Fighting Challenge and went pro with them in 2009. Friends state that Borders began his career in MMA as an official, later transitioning to competition.
