Brave Combat Federation has announced that Jose “Shorty” Torres has signed a multi-fight deal with the promotion and is expected to make his debut in 2019. The flyweight and bantamweight contender was one of MMA’s hottest free-agents and has chosen to sign with one of the biggest promotions in the Middle East.
Torres and Brave, along with KHK MMA, will renew their partnership as the American standout was part of the first generation of KHK MMA athletes and became double champion at Titan FC while representing His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa’s gym. He was also the color commentator for Brave CF’s first-ever edition, back in September of 2016.
Aside from his two Titan FC titles, “Shorty” is also known as a world champion at the amateur level, winning a gold medal at the IMMAF World Championships. He already has eyes on adding a Brave Combat Federation belt, or maybe two, to his collection.
“Brave doesn’t have an inaugural champ yet. That’s something I want to do, possibly be their first flyweight champion and their first double weight champion”, said Torres, in an interview with MMA Fighting.
Jose Torres comes in with an 8-1 record, after starting with eight straight professional wins. He also possesses an undefeated amateur record, winning all of his 12 bouts before turning pro, in March of 2016.
At flyweight, Torres will join the likes of 10-time jiu-jitsu world champion Bruno Malfacine, Muay Thai specialist Marcel Adur and Sambo world champion Velimurad Alkhasov, as well as standout wrestler Sean Santella.
