Brendan Allen vs Nassourdine Imavov scheduled for UFC Paris on September 28
A middleweight showdown between top contenders Brendan Allen and Nassourdine Imavov is set to take place at UFC Paris which is scheduled for September 28. Mike Heck of MMA Fighting confirmed the booking through multiple people connected to the plan, which was first reported by Fight Minds.
Recently, Brendan Allen had said that he would only face Imavov at UFC Paris if their fight were to serve as the main event, but according to MMA Fighting, it is expected that a lightweight matchup between Renato Moicano and Benoit Saint Denis will be the headliner. Currently, Allen sits seventh in the division rankings, while Imavov sits inside the Top-5 with his ranking at four.
Riding a seven-fight winning streak, Brendan Allen has five finishes during his run, all five which have come by way of submission, even more specifically, all have come by rear-naked choke. Most recently, he avenged a previous loss to Chris Curtis with a split decision victory in April, his only fight so far in 2024.
Nassourdine Imavov has bounced back from a tough 2023, to reel off two consecutive wins to begin the 2024 calendar year. In February, Imaov picked up a majority decision win over Roman Dolidze, then further re-cemented himself back atop the middleweight division when he secured a fourth-round TKO finish over Jared Cannoniner in June. This fight may not be a title eliminator, but there’s no doubting that the winner will find themselves in a high-stakes fight following this matchup.
Here is the UFC Paris card currently schedule on September 28:
- Renato Moicano vs Benoit Saint-Denis
- Brendan Allen vs Nassourdine Imavov
