Brendan Loughnane previews PFL world title fight and what it would mean to bring a title home to the UK

Despite riding a current three-fight winning streak as he heads into his PFL featherweight championship against Bubba Jenkins, UK standout Brendan Loughnane believes he’s still not showing the best version of himself. Loughnane put on a striking clinic in his last fight against Chris Wade which earned him his spot in the championship final, but he said in his post-fight interview that he didn’t like his previous two performances before picking up the unanimous decision victory over Wade at the PFL Playoffs in August.

The entire 2022 season has been a positive for Brendan Loughnane, who has won all of his fight this year, and as a fighter who has been highlighted throughout his career journey, he has finally arrived at the opportunity he knew he deserved. While it was certainly up to him to achieve the task at hand and win his way to the finals, Loughnane has never doubted himself, his coaches, or his standing as a professional featherweight fighter, regardless of promotion.

In an interview with MyMMANews, Brendan Loughnane discussed his career journey to get to the PFL championship finals, which included a previous run on Dana White’s Contender Series, where he was not given a contract despite his victory. It felt lazy and simple for others to write the narrative for Loughnane that he wasn’t cut for the UFC, but as he explains, the PFL has been everything he needed and worked for, and the relationship between both sides has been a perfect fit.

A great representation of UK MMA, Loughnane has developed a great fanbase in Europe, the UK, and the United States. He discusses what it would mean to be another fighter to bring home a belt to the UK after Leon Edwards claimed the UFC welterweight world title at UFC 278 last month.

While most fighters feel they have to leave to either relocate to the United States or work with a bigger team, Loughnane stayed true to his roots and now finds himself just one victory away from a world title, $1 million grand prize, and a chapter is in his legacy that can never be taken away.
