Bruno Silva only needs one round to stop Brad Tavares at UFC Vegas 71
The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to us tonight, April 22, 2023, for UFC Vegas 71, going down live from the Apex Center in Enterprise, Nevada.
Headlining the event is a heavyweight clash between no. 3 ranked former FNG champion Sergei Pavlovich (17-1) and no. 4 ranked Curtis Blaydes (17-3, 1 NC).
Co-headlining the event was a middleweight bout between Brad Tavares (19-7) and Bruno Silva (22-8).
Tavares had gone 2-1 over his latest three appearances following a year-plus absence from the octagon, most recently losing to no. 6 ranked Dricus Du Plessis, becoming the only man Du Plessis defeated, but couldn’t finish through 19 career wins.
Silva on the other hand came in on a two-fight skid following a seven-fight knockout streak from 2017 to 2021, including an initial 3-0 streak to begin his UFC tenure, and one victory of which saw him capture the M-1 Challenge middleweight championship.

Official Result: Bruno Silva def. Brad Tavares via KO (punch) at 3:35 of round one
Silva opens up the bout throwing heavy bombs, while Tavares tries to evade them and land heavy body kicks from the outside. Silva cracks Tavares with a nasty right hand about three minutes in that has him hurt badly, before following up with a knee up the middle and an equally as vicious right hand that stops Tavares on the spot.
