Marcus Almeida stated, “’Comfort is your biggest trap and coming out of comfort zone your biggest challenge’. That first time doing it is unforgettable! On December 3rd we are back! @onechampionship”.
Many regard Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida as the greatest grappler ever. His deep resume of championship accomplishments would certainly make a strong case for that.
The 17-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion is now 1-0 as a professional mixed martial arts fighter.
Buchecha
That first foray into the ONE Circle took place just a few weeks ago for Almeida.
Buchecha bested Anderson “Braddock” Silva at ONE: Revolution on September 24th. The sub-three-minute victory came in the first frame of the fight via north-south choke.
There are rumblings surrounding who Buchecha‘s next opponent will be and a few names are prominently circulating.
Thomas Narmo, Reug Reug, and Alain Ngalani are the primary names at the forefront for Almeida’s next bout.
Narmo is the original fighter who was set to face Buchecha at ONE: Revolution. His withdrawal lead to Silva eventually stepping up to test skills versus Almeida.
Reug Reug, aka Oumar Kane, was also supposed to fight Buchecha earlier on in the year. An April collision at ONE on TNT I eventually fell apart in the lead up to the card.
Ngalani is one of the more tenured fighters the company has ever had. The Panther is riding an eight-plus-year run dating back to ONE Championship’s tenth event.
The heavyweight highlight reel’s last two bouts have been against the aforementioned Kane and Narmo. He endured a TKO loss to Reug Reug and a no-contest against Thomas Narmo across that pair of prizefights.
