Caio Borralho improves UFC record to 4-0, submits Michal Oleksiejczuk at UFC Vegas 72

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to us tonight, April 29, 2023, for UFC Vegas 72, going down live from the UFC Apex in Enterprise, Nevada.

Headlining the event was a clash of bantamweight contenders between no. 8 ranked Song Yadong (19-7-1-1) and no. 10 ranked Ricky Simon (20-3).

Co-headlining the event was a middleweight affair between Brazilian grappling sensation Caio Borralho (14-1) and Polish knockout artist Michal Oleksiejczuk (18-6).

Borralho had gone 3-0 thus far into his UFC tenure and came into the bout on a 13-fight unbeaten streak, while Oleksiejczuk came in on a two-fight win streak, both wins via first round knockout, having gone 4-1 over his last five.

Official Result: Caio Borralho def. Michal Oleksiejczuk via submission (rear naked choke) at 2:49 of round two

Oleksiejczuk lands a nice overhand left at the start of the bout and settles in early on with his boxing.

Borralho lands a hard leg kick about 30 seconds in and continues to attack the lead leg of Oleksiejczuk through the first half of the opening round.

Oleksiejczuk is doing a great job of mixing up his punches to both the head and body, and he was doing a good job of stuffing Borralho’s takedown attempts until the final minute of round one, where he’s taken down and controlled until the bell sounds.

Borralho secures an early takedown to start the second, and soon thereafter he secures mount. He then takes Oleksiejczuk’s back and sinks in the rear naked choke for the second-round stoppage victory.

Caio Borralho has secured a takedown in each of his four UFC appearances, and he picks up the first finish of his promotional tenure tonight at UFC Vegas 72.

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
