Canelo Alvarez vs Gennady Golovkin results
Tonight, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Gennady “GGG” Golovkin traded shots for the unified WBA (Super), WBC, IBF, The Ring magazine, and lineal middleweight championship of the world, live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will be broadcast by way of HBO pay-per-view (PPV).
Canelo Alvarez vs Gennady Golovkin was built as one of the best boxing matches to take place in this era. It is a fight you did not want to miss.
Golovkin, the unbeaten knockout puncher from Kazakhstan, defended his middleweight titles against Alvarez, Mexico’s biggest boxing star. Alvarez, whose only loss was at the hands of Floyd Mayweather Jr., is coming off a lopsided win over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
Golovkin (37-0, 33 knockouts) was established as a 2-1 favorite over Alvarez (49-1-1, 34 knockouts) in a bout that was several years in the making. Alvarez is a former welterweight and super welterweight champion who moved up to a catch weight of 164 pounds for his fight against Chavez.
Yesterday they both made weight, coming in at 160-pounds. Today, it was a back and forth brawl, two of the best ever to compete going at it. There was a lot of controversy on the score brought forth by the judges but this fight went to a draw.
