Carlos Condit removed from UFC DC, new opponent sought for Mickey Gall
Mickey Gall got a dream-like matchup scheduled for the UFC’s return to the nation’s capital next month. Unfortunately, he will need a new opponent.
Sources close to the situation confirmed to MyMMANews.com that Carlos Condit has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled bout with Gall at UFC on ESPN 7 due to an undisclosed injury. The event takes place Dec. 7 at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.
MMA Junkie was the first to report Condit’s withdrawal. The UFC is actively seeking a replacement for Gall, according to sources.
It’s unfortunate for Condit as he was looking to snap a five-fight losing streak. “The Natural Born Killer” last competed a little under a year ago against Michael Chiesa at UFC 232. Carlos Condit, a former interim welterweight champion, would be submitted in the second round of the welterweight contest.
Condit’s last win inside the Octagon took place in May 2015 when he defeated Thiago Alves via second round TKO at UFC Fight Night 67.
Gall will seek his second straight victory should an opponent be found to replace Condit. In his last appearance, the 27-year-old Gall picked up a hard fought decision win against Salim Touahri at August’s UFC Newark event. Gall entered the UFC following his pro debut submission win which aired on Dana White’s Lookin’ For a Fight, picking up finishes of Mike Jackson, CM Punk and Sage Northcutt to begin his Octagon tenure. Gall is 2-2 in his last four fights, which includes a submission win over George Sullivan and the only two losses of his career to Diego Sanchez and Randy Brown.
