Casey O’Neill predicts finish over Antonina Shevchenko at UFC Vegas 38
Casey O’Neill is one of the youngest fighters on the UFC roster, but as the old saying goes, age is just number.
The 23-year-old will be fighting in just her third UFC fight on Oct. 2 and while she’s very new to the sports biggest promotion, O’Neill is very aware of the star power she posses.
O’Neill has all the making for superstardom in the UFC. She’s extremely attractive, has a Scottish accent and has the confidence of a champion. She also added a highlight reel submission to résumé in her last fight when she choked Lara Procopio out cold in the third round of their fight.
All she’s missing is a win over a well known opponent and at UFC Vegas 38 she’ll have a chance to really make a huge splash in the UFC.
At UFC Vegas 38, O’Neill will fight in a flyweight matchup against MMA veteran Antonina Shevchenko, whose sister Valentina is the current dominate champion of the 125 pound division.
Prior to the fight, O’Neill spoke to MyMMANews about the upcoming fight in which she is very confident about. O’Neill didn’t want to give too much away in terms of her game plan, but she has trained with Shevchenko in the past and O’Neill believes she matches up well with her former workout partner. Not only does she think the fight favors her, but O’Neill thinks she’ll stop Shevchenko within their 15 minute contest and have a win over a well known opponent under her belt.
While O’Neill is very confident in her abilities has a fighter, she also feels like she’s going to have extra help inside of the octagon on fight night. Recently, O’Neill lost her teammate and friend Kyle Reyes. His passing came during O’Neill’s training camp and she’s been carrying her friend in her heart and feels he will be with her when she steps foot inside of the cage at the UFC Apex on Oct. 2.
