Charles Oliveira and Beneil Dariush to fight on Oct. 3
Charles Oliveira and Beneil Dariush will meet on Oct. 3 in a lightweight battle between two red hot fighters. AG Fight was first to confirm the news.
Since moving back up to 155-pounds in 2017, Oliveira (29-8) has won eight of nine fights, including seven in a row. All of his wins have come by stoppage. In his last outing, he earned a submission victory over Kevin Lee. Paul Felder is the only man to beat him in the last three and half years.
Dariush (19-4) is riding a win streak off on his own as he’s unbeaten in his past five contest. He’s coming off a highlight reel spinning backlist knockout over Scott Holtzman earlier this month at UFC on ESPN+ 32.
The UFC hasn’t officially announced where the event will take place, but it is expected to be on “Fight Island” on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.
While the location is unofficial, the UFC announced last night at UFC 252, that former bantamweight queen Holly Holm will headline the event against Irene Aldana. The two were previously scheduled to fight on Aug. 1, but the fight was postponed when Aldana tested positive for coronavirus.
The current Oct. 3 fight card is listed below:
Holly Holm vs. Irene Aldana
Germaine de Randamie vs. Julianna Pena
Andrei Arlovski vs. Tanner Boser
Jinh Yu Frey vs. Loma Lookboonmee
Yorgan De Castro vs. Carlos Felipe
Beneil Dariush vs. Charles Oliveira
